Biomass Boiler fuels award winning Farm Park Guest Blog from AMP Clean Energy.
Eco farm park fuelled by high-quality biomass woodchip boiler
Farmer Palmer’s Farm Park places a huge emphasis on reducing its impact on the environment. It’s mission is to dramatically minimise waste and energy consumption. AMP Clean Energy helps boost Farmer Palmer’s sustainability. How? certainly by supplying high-quality sustainable wood chip for the farm’s biomass boiler and district heating system. As a result the boiler provides all the hot water and heating the farm needs for its shop, café and associated buildings.
The Dorset-based family run Farm Park has benefited from regular, reliable deliveries. AMP Clean Energy Fuel Supply Agreement (FSA) has supplied high-quality biomass fuel since 2013. The FSA provides guaranteed, scheduled deliveries at an agreed set rate with priority delivery time frames. It is also the best way to ensure the availability of the right vehicle for any particular delivery. Ensuring normal lead times, even at the peak demand time of the winter heating season.
“We look for the maximum environmental impact in everything we do, so it’s important to use the highest-quality wood fuel”, said Phillip Palmer of Farmer Palmer’s.
The most sustainable wood chip on the market
Farmer Palmers already deploys a number of environmental measures. Solar electricity, solar hot water and battery recycling as well as the highest-quality biomass fuel possible for their boiler.
The woodchip supplied by AMP Clean Energy meets strict sustainability criteria, as set out by the Government’s Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) scheme. As such, the fuel is Biomass Supplier List (BSL) authorised and Woodsure-Plus-accredited wood chip. Therefore, Farmer Palmer’s biomass boiler uses wood chip that is as uniform as possible. It also it keeps the boiler working efficiently and free from excess contaminants.
A Happy Partnership
“It’s critical to us that our boiler fuel is as efficient as possible and also comes from local sources,” added Phillip. “AMP Clean Energy ensure that our wood chip starts life from 2 sources. Either as virgin round wood from nearby sustainable woodland or as virgin sawmill chip. This keeps delivery miles to a minimum and helps us lower our carbon footprint too.”
“Our Fuel Supply Agreements provide peace of mind to organisations like Farmer Palmer’s. They want high quality fuel and regular, guaranteed deliveries. We are one of the longest established biomass supply businesses on the market. Our supply chain is robust and secure. AMP Clean Energy can be relied on to deliver wood pellet and chip to our customers, whatever the weather”, said Roger Pearson, Managing Director of AMP Clean Energy’s Fuel Supply business.

Additional Facts from Farmer Palmers.
Our Biomass boiler is a ETA Hack 200kW with a AKVA 6000 E Buffer tank and 700ltr Expansion Vessel. Installed in March 2014.
The moisture content varies between 25% and 29%.
AMP Clean Energy has a proven track record in sourcing and supplying high quality wood chip to customers across the UK. It is locally sourced, seasoned and processed, furthermore reducing risk of contamination, therefore minimising environmental impact. Most noteworthy, their high quality moisture controlled wood chip is Woodsure Plus Quality Assured wood fuel, which is accredited by HETAS. Hence their secure, long established, supply chain ensures complete reliability for customers, especially those on Fuel Supply Agreements.
All of our wood chip is UK sourced and from virgin fibre sources which will produce low ash content and be free from contaminants. Our wood chip conforms to ONORM or EN specification. As a result the defined particle size, as well as moisture content, are the correct levels of fines and no oversize pieces.
“We submit readings to the Renewable Heat Incentive Scheme every quarter in return for income. Consequently this repays the considerable re-investment we made to the Farm Park in 2014. This is win, win for our clients who keep warm while we fuel their fun!” Sandra Palmer-Snellin, Director
