Do I need Wellies On The Farm? We are not a muddy farm, we pride ourselves on cleanliness but if it’s been raining lots, then the children will love seeking out puddles and jumping, splashing and having fun. So don’t worry if you have forgotten yours, we are have the latest new trend wellies available here.
This year the conventional wellie was given a kick as a brand new concept in children’s wellies arrived in the UK.
Who is Amanda and why are Squelch wellies different?
Amanda’s children, aged four and five, love wearing their wellies but they get bored wearing the same ones. Sound familiar?
So she came up with Squelch, which teams transparent wellies with colourful socks so youngsters can sport a host of different looks and watch their toes wriggle!
Amanda, who lives in Alnwick, said: “My children love their welly boots, they wear them all the time, but they get bored with the same pair all year around. As a consequence, I decided I needed to work on a playful concept that gave my kids and others a different looking welly from the same welly and that’s when Squelch was born.”
How did Squelch Wellies and Farmer Palmers Meet?
I went to Trade Fair at the NEC, Birmingham because we look for inspirational new ideas to bring to you. Amanda was sitting at her small space with her brand new product and lots of enthusiasm. We got chatting and she was nervous but excited. I adored the fun concept and placed an order, turned out to be her 1st order EVER! She wrote to me soon after.
“Lovely to meet you at the fair the other day! Thank you very much for our first ever order, you will always be a special customer to us! We are incredibly excited to be stocked in Farmer Palmers look forward to a positive working relationship!”
How Did The Idea Turn Into A Start Up Business?
Amanda launched her website on the 25th March 2019. and here’s her story.
I love kids, I love wellies, I love socks. Once I had decided on my dream product I found my manufacturers through the internet. Kissed a few manufacturing frogs and eventually wound up finding two that communicate transparently and produce a high spec product within the time frame.
We are an ethically manufacturing brand
We have a great relationship with our manufacturers, all of whom rate highly in human resource audits and I have established manufacturing lead times.
The welly boots are manufactured in China.
The socks are manufactured in India.
The bags are manufactured in the UK.
We are an environmentally conscious brand
Our boots arrive in a 100% cotton drawstring bag instead of the wasteful shoe box.
We encourage our customers to recycle after use, hand down, give to charity or use as planters.
We are a charitable brand
Boots arrive in a 100% cotton drawstring bag, instead of a shoe box
10% of our net profit from online sales goes to the Trussell Trust charity. They have a network of food banks which significantly touch the lives of people in need across the UK! Nobody should wake up hungry and go to bed hungry!
10% of our net profit from online sales made towards that school’s PTA, providing valuable funding. Please add your school’s name in the “Special Instructions for the Seller” box which is found in the checkout cart.
Who is in your Team?
Behind the scene at squelch we are a team! I’ve chosen people who are experts in their fields and who believe in squelch to invest positive energy into driving our brand forward. We have Lauren Black our social media manager. Steve Batey our schools sale rep. Stavros Simonovikis branding and of course my kids Thomas and Alice who really believe in Squelch.
Is there going to be a seasonal range?
With a variety of funky bright socks, children have a great time choosing the socks and creating new welly boot looks for themselves. We have seasonal socks, for example it is easy to change to Christmas and Halloween boots with other celebration socks being worked on currently. We intend to add to our collection quarterly.
We live locally to Farmer Palmers and have annual passes for our whole family. We’ve been visiting the farm for 6 years now (so I have lots of good things to say!) My younger daughter age 19 months loves it and so does her 6 year old sister! (My eldest also loved it as a toddler!)
It’s a farm, with all the usual farm animals you’d expect to see and more.
Play Areas
The indoor play area is done very well and my youngest and eldest daughter love it in there, soft play is also great for both ages.
Bouncy castles are kept clean and well maintained (let’s remember there’s a daily influx of small children who’ve spent the day running free range on a FARM so of course it’s got signs of being used!).
My daughters love it here, you have an array of activities to choose from woodland walks, soft play & bouncy castles. Guinea pig holding is a hit (happy well looked after Guinea pigs not cramped up in a pet shop. We were so happy with the standards of care we got our own guinea pigs from here!). Goat and lamb feeding (yes on busy days you don’t get a huge amount of time yet I haven’t heard a grumble from a single child). Not mention water sprinklers, Go carts which are suitable for both adults and small children, lovely picnic area and playground, seasonal pony rides and real milking demonstration (my eldest loves it!). There is decent home cooked food served in the cafe. Also a tractor ride available for a couple of £ you can even feed deer.
Birthday Parties
We’ve had several birthday parties here (so have my nephews and nieces age up to age 12!) and everyone loves it.
Cost
Considering the price of most family days out, I think Farmer Palmers is actually very good value for money, it’s a far cry from a theme park (thank goodness!) and I love spending time with my kids here throughout the year be it rain of shine!
Will be renewing our annual pass for the 3rd year this summer!
Thanks for endless entertainment!
